The Mictlantec faith is a Mesoamerican religion derived heavily from the ancient Aztec religion. It is found mainly in southern Mexico with Zaptec, Mextec, and Nahua cultures.

History[]

Mictlantec is a revival of old Aztec traditions for the new Age of the Dead Sun. The previous cycle ended in apocalypse with the near destruction of the sun god Huitzilopochtli in his struggle against the darkness. Death god Mictlantecuhtli was largely responsible for saving humanity, and is now considered the sun god.

Holy Sites[]

The Mictlantec faith has five holy sites, which it shares with the Sol Invicta religion:

  • Suchiapa, in the county of Tuxtla Gutieérrez.
  • Juchipila, in the county of Mixtón.
  • Itzapalapa, in the county of Mexico.
  • Misantla, in the county of Xalapa.
  • Fracciona, in the county of Oaxaca.

As of 2666, only one of the holy sites (Juchipila) is in the hands of the Miclantec faithful. Two of the holy sites, Itzapalapa and Misantla, are held by priests of the Sagrado Corazón. Of the remaining two holy sites, Suchiapa is held by the Uahomche faith and Fracciona is held by adherents the sun-worshiping Sol Invicta religion.

Mechanics[]

The Mictlantec religion has a few defining features in-game:

  • Can sacrifice prisoners to their gods, either individually or in a major ceremony.
  • Kings and emperors are expected to declare themselves Incarnates (living gods).
  • May go on vision quests after a ceremony of human sacrifice.

Heresies[]

The Mictlantec religion has no official heresies in-game, though the sun-worshipping Sol Invicta religion is derived from the same Aztec traditions.
